Mao Asada finished second at Japan's national championships in Tokyo Dec. 25, where she became the first female skater to do two triple Axels in a free program.
Asada, who scored 188.10 points Sunday, also won the recent Grand Prix Final, beating world champion Irina Slutskaya of Russia.
But the Japanese skater can't compete at the Olympics because she is too young. She turned 15 in September, almost three months after she needed to in order to be eligible to compete in the Torino Games.

Instead, Fumie Suguri, Shizuka Arakawa and Miki Ando will go to Turin.
Suguri, who has finished third at two world championships, placed first at the nationals (194.16) while Shizuka Arakawa (187.36), the 2004 world champion, placed third. Miki Ando (173.36) was sixth.
"This is a good result for me," said Suguri, who was second at the NHK Trophy earlier this season.
"I'm relieved that I was picked, but at the same time I'll need to do a lot more to improve on my performance."
Asada, who was third after the short program, skated to the Nutcracker Suite.
She opened with a triple Axel then followed it with a triple Axel in combination with a double toe loop.
"I'm very happy to have done two triple Axels, I wasn't thinking about the championship but was just focusing on [those jumps]," Asada said. "I'd give myself 95 out of 100 for today's skate."
Daisuke Takahashi (223.12 points), who won the men's national title on Saturday, will be Japan's lone men's skater in Turin.
