The Flyers received forward Matt Ellison and a third-round draft pick in exchange.
"We addressed a need we had for speed and skill in getting Patrick Sharp," Blackhawks general manager Dale Tallon stated.
Sharp, 23, has five goals and three assists for eight points in 22 games this season, his third in the NHL.
The native of Thunder Bay, Ont., has 10 goals and 15 points in 66 games since being drafted in the third round - 95th overall - by Philadelphia in the 2001 NHL draft.
"Sharp is a good skater and a solid two-way player who fits into our plans for the future," Tallon said.
Meloche has a goal and three points in 10 appearances this season with the Philadelphia Phantoms of the AHL.
The 29-year-old Montreal native has totalled eight goals and 17 points in 61 games over three NHL seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins, who drafted him in the seventh round - 186th overall - in 1996.
Ellison, a former CHL and WHL rookie of the year, had three goals and 12 points in 26 games this season.
The Duncan, B.C., native played 10 games as a Blackhawks rookie in 2003-04, earning one assist.
