The Vancouver Canucks have re-signed starting goaltender Dan Cloutier to a two-year, $2.5 million US contract. Cloutier posted five shutouts and a goals-against average of 2.27 for the Canucks in 2003-04.
"Dan has grown as a person and a player in Vancouver and is now at an age when NHL goaltenders traditionally reach the prime of their careers," Canucks general manager Dave Nonis said in a release.
Cloutier, from Mont-Laurier, Que., played last season in Austria for Klagenfurter.

In other NHL news, the Washington Capitals have re-signed veteran forward Dainius Zubrus to a two-year-contract and also signed Matt Bradley and defenceman Jean-Francois Fortin. Zubrus spent last season with the Russian club Lada Togliatti during the NHL lockout and had eight goals, 11 assists in 42 games.
The Toronto Maple Leafs re-signed goaltender Jean-Sebastien Aubin to a one-year deal.
The Carolina Hurricanes re-signed forward Josef Vasicek to a $2.3 million, two-year deal.
The New York Rangers signed 20-year-old college goaltender Chris Holt, forwards Chad Wiseman and Jamie Lundmark, both 24, Garth Murray and Czech forward Petr Prucha, both 22, and 21-year-old defenceman Hannu Pikkarainen.
The Tampa Bay Lightning re-signed goaltender Brian Eklund and signed veteran right-wingers Jim Campbell and Norm Milley and centre Jason Jaspers.
The Anaheim Mighty Ducks re-signed forward Jonathan Hedstrom to a two-year contract.
Centre Rostislav Olesz, selected by Florida seventh overall in last month's entry draft, signed a three-year deal with the Panthers.
