Punto, 27, was hurt as he attempted to steal a base in the seventh inning of Thursday's 4-3, 13-inning win over the Cleveland Indians.
Earlier, he hit a two-run home run.
Punto is averaging .293 with a homer, eight runs batted in, 19 runs scored and five stolen bases in 37 games this season, his second for Minnesota.

He missed three games with an injured right calf.
Punto is a lifetime .257 hitter with four HRs, 24 RBIs, 50 runs and 13 steals in 153 MLB games with the Philadelphia Phillies and Twins.
Minnesota traded Eric Milton for Punto, Carlos Silva and prospect Bobby Korecky on Dec. 3, 2003.
