Robertson scored three points in the fifth end of Draw 2 on the way to a 7-5 win over Calleen Neufeld's Manitoba rink Saturday afternoon at the Lady Beaverbrook Rink in Fredericton.
Earlier in the day, the 20-year-old Robertson (2-0) defeated New Brunswick's Andrea Kelly 6-5.
Against Neufeld, Robertson and her Grande Prairie rink fell behind 2-0 early, but evened matters on Sheet D with two points in the third end. Two ends later, Robertson had upped her lead to 5-3.
Neufeld and company closed to within 6-5 later in the match, but Robertson scored one in the ninth and final end.
Neufeld (0-1) meets Marie-Christine Cantin of Quebec later on Saturday, while Robertson is idle until a Draw 5 matchup with Cantin on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
In other Draw 2 matches, Nova Scotia's Morgan Muise beat Northern Ontario's Jennifer Horgan 5-4 in 10 ends; Ontario's Erin Morrissey downed Kristan Thompson of the Northwest Territories 7-5; and Cantin routed Laden Shaw of the Yukon 11-5.
On the men's side, Nova Scotia's Ian Fitzner-LeBlanc (2-0) rallied from a 4-2 deficit to knock off Brad Jacobs' Northern Ontario rink 7-4 in Draw 2 play.
Quebec's Martin Crete doubled Trevor Prosko of the Yukon 10-5; Manitoba's Daley Peters rolled over Derek Miller of Alberta 12-3; and Ontario's Mark Bice defeated Trevor Moss of the Northwest Territories 9-3.
Thirteen men's and 13 women's teams are participating at this year's championship – the first event in the 2005 Season of Champions.
The top teams from round-robin play gain a bye to their respective finals. The second- and third-place squads meet in the semifinals.
The men's and women's finals will be broadcast live on CBC Sports. The men's championship is Feb. 12 at 12 p.m. ET, while the women's final is Feb. 13 at 12:30 p.m. ET.
Winners will represent Canada at the world junior championships, March 3-13 in Pinerolo, Italy. Pinerolo also will stage the curling competition during the 2006 Turin Winter Olympics.
Miller shocks Sherrard in Draw 1
It didn't take long for the first upset as Alberta's Derek Miller upended men's favourite Ryan Sherrard Saturday morning.
After Sherrard forced an extra end with a steal of three points in the eighth end to make it 7-7, Miller posted a single in the 10th for an 8-7 victory on Sheet A.
Sherrard of Rothesay, N.B., is attempting to become only the fourth skip since 1950 to win back-to-back junior titles and the first since John Morris in 1998-99.
Sherrard's rink, out of the Riverside Country Club, fell behind 2-0 in the first of nine ends but managed to claw back and take a 3-2 lead entering the fourth.
A resilient Miller added two points in the fourth end and stole three more in the seventh to go up 7-4. Sherrard, though, answered with his own three-spot in the eighth end.
