World champion pairs skater Tatiana Totmianina was released from hospital Sunday, one day after suffering a concussion during a nasty spill at Skate America.

Totmianina, speaking to reporters at a Pittsburgh hospital Sunday, said she has little memory of what happened one day earlier.

Totmianina tumbled headfirst into the ice on a failed one-handed lift by partner Maxim Marinin during the pairs free skate. She remained motionless on the ice for about five minutes before being carried off on a stretcher and taken to hospital.

The Russian skater had a bruise around her right eye. CT scans, X-rays and neurological tests were all negative.

Coach Oleg Vasiliev said Totmianina could begin training in as little as 10 days.

"I think she needs to rest, one week at least – one week doing nothing, not reading, no television, no nothing," Vasiliev said.

Vasiliev described Marinin as "mentally depressed" about Totmianina's tumble but said the world pairs champion understood "we couldn't blame just the partner" for the fall.
