Canada's national baseball team qualified for the 2004 Olympics in Athens with an 11-1 rout of Mexico on Sunday.

Justin Morneau of New Westminster, B.C., led the way with a two-run homer in a four-run third inning for Canada.

Morneau, a .226 hitter in 106 at-bats for the Minnesota Twins this season, has five home runs in the qualifying tournament.

Ryan Radmanovich of Calgary, Pierre LaForest of Montreal, and Stubby Clapp of Windsor, Ont., also homered for Canada. Right-hander Mike Johnson of Edmonton gave earned the victory, giving up seven hits in seven innings of work.

The game was called after seven innings due to the lopsided score.

Canada went 1-2 in pool play, advancing to the semi-finals by beating Brazil 14-6 on Saturday.

Cuba claimed the other spot with a 10-0 victory over Puerto Rico in the other semi-final qualifier and now plays Canada in the final on Monday.

In the shock of the tournament, Mexico eliminated the defending champion U.S. team on Friday. While the U.S. sits at home during next year's Olympic tournament, nations such as Netherlands and Italy will be vying for the gold.
