Favre's starting streak not in jeopardy despite broken thumb

Favre suffered the injury on the first play of Sunday's game against St. Louis, but stayed in the game and turned in one of his best dome performances. He completed 23 of 32 passes for 268 yards and two touchdowns with one interception against the Rams.
Packers coach Mike Sherman revealed the extent of his pivot's injury on Monday, saying Favre could play this weekend if the team was scheduled to play. Favre is expected to play in two weeks when Green Bay (3-4) travels to Minnesota.
"He has a hairline crack on his thumb," Sherman said, adding Favre will be in a splint and won't practice this week. He'll be evaluated next Monday. "If we had to play this week, he said he could play with it, and hopefully in two weeks when we play it will be better."

Favre, 34, struggled with his throwing after injuring his right thumb during the pre-season in 1999. This time around, Sherman said he didn't think there was any danger.
A three-time MVP, Favre has hit on 67 per cent of his passes this season. He left the locker room Sunday with a bag of ice taped to his right thumb, which swelled on the flight home.
