Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Ricky Ray picked up CFL player of the month honours on Thursday.

Montreal Alouettes defensive back Barron Miles, B.C. Lions defensive end defensive end Ray Jacobs and Hamilton Tiger-Cats kick returner Craig Yeast were also named CFL players of the month.

Ray completed 123 of 163 pass attempts with 12 touchdowns during the month of September. On Sept. 19 versus Ottawa, Ray tied for second in all-time single-game completion percentage with 87.5 per cent (21 of 24).

Montreal quarterback Anthony Calvillo and Edmonton slotback Terry Vaughn were also in the running for the award.

Miles earned the defensive player of the month award after collecting eight defensive tackles with three interceptions for 44 yards in four games.

Calgary's Davis Sanchez and Edmonton's Donny Brady were the runners-up.

Jacobs was named lineman of the month after registering nine defensive tackles and three quarterback sacks.

Hamilton's Joe Montford and Dorian Boose of the Edmonton Eskimos were also in the running for the award.

Yeast earned special teams player of the month. He returned 19 punts for 199 yards and 12 kickoffs for 237 yards.

Bashir Levingston of the Toronto Argonauts and Ottawa's Lawrence Tynes were also nominated for special teams honours.
