Alfonseca, who was also fined an undisclosed amount, is due to begin serving his suspension tonight unless he appeals the penalty.
Cubs outfielder Moises Alou was fined an undisclosed amount for arguing with and directing inappropriate comments at Klemm.
Additionally, Cubs bullpen coach Juan Lopez was suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount for arguing with Klemm from the bullpen. Lopez will serve his suspension tonight when the Cubs visit Milwaukee.
It was at the conclusion of the seventh inning when Alfonseca went ballistic.
The Cubs, who ended up losing the contest 2-0, threatened in the frame. Chicago loaded the bases for Alou, who flied out to left to end the inning. Prior to the inning-ending fly ball, Alou hit a ball down the left field line that was ruled foul by Klemm.
Several Chicago players and coaches thought the ball was fair. Alou was tossed for arguing and apparently spitting, while Alfonseca was ejected after he ran onto the field and bumped into Klemm.
The Cubs ended up taking four contests in the intense five-game series against their NL Central rival to keep the division race tight.
Alfonseca is 1-1 with a 5.25 ERA in 53 games this year.
