Last May, William Ligue Jr. pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated battery after he jumped Royals coach Tom Gamboa during a Chicago White Sox game.
Ligue also was ordered to perform community service and remain in a substance abuse program. The judge said probation was an opportunity for Ligue to recover from his drug problem.
The inncident occured in September. Gamboa was coaching first base for the Royals when Ligue and his 15-year-old son came out of the stands and attacked him.

Ligue and his son were eventually subdued by guards and players.
Initially, Ligue claimed the assault on Gamboa was retaliation for an obscene gesture. Later, Ligue apologized for his actions and asked for help for his drug habit.
Ligue, according to his sister Kimberly Richardson, went into a tailspin after his daughter died in May of 2002.
Ligue's son was sentenced to five years' probation and 30 hours of community service. A judge has also recommended he be sent to a prison boot camp following a probation violation.
