Is David Beckham going to get Real this summer?

Last Updated: Thursday, April 24, 2003 | 3:47 PM ET

Rumours continue to suggest that English soccer star David Beckham will leave Manchester United this summer and join Real Madrid.

Those rumours seemed to be confirmed on Wednesday during a Champions League quarter-final match between Man U and Real Madrid in London.

When the game began, Beckham, the team captain, was on the bench.

He did not enter the game until the 64th minute. He then proceeded to score two goals to lead Man U's to a 4-3 win over Real Madrid.

Following the game, Beckham took off his jersey and left the pitch carrying the No. 5 shirt of Real Madrid midfielder Zinedine Zidane.

Although Man U won the match, Real Madrid advanced to the Champions League semifinal based on aggregate score of 6-5 over two games.

In the semifinal, to be staged May 6 and 14, Madrid will face Italian champion and league leader Juventus, who ousted Barcelona on Tuesday.

In the other semifinal matchup, AC Milan faces Inter Milan, who knocked out Valencia on Tuesday, on May 7 and 13.

The winners will advance to the Champions Cup, awarded to the top professional soccer team in Europe.
