"It is quite possible that I will never play top-level tennis again, because my feet don't allow it," the former No. 1-ranked Hingis told the Swiss news agency Sport Information in an interview published Wednesday.
When asked if she had a comeback plan, she said: "No."
The Slovakian-born, Switzerland-raised Hingis has struggled through various foot, hip and ankle injuries over the better part of the past four seasons.

The 22-year-old had an operation on her right ankle in October 2001 and on her left ankle in May 2002.
"The Swiss Miss" has five Grand Slam singles and nine Grand Slam double titles to her credit. Over her eight-year professional career, she has 40 career WTA singles titles and has spent a total of 209 weeks at No. 1.
Hingis was forced to skip both the French Open and Wimbledon last year -- the first majors she missed since turning pro -- and returned to action in August, before being sidelined again in October.
