Tigers keep on losing

Last Updated: Sunday, April 14, 2002 | 12:52 AM ET

An imperfect 10.

Torii Hunter's sacrifice fly in the sixth inning put the Minnesota Twins ahead for good as they recorded a 7-3 victory over the Detroit Tigers, who have lost the first 10 games of the season.

The 10-game losing streak is the longest by Detroit since it dropped 12 in a row from September 7-19, 1996.

With the game tied 3-3 in the sixth and Doug Mientkiewicz on third with one out, Hunter lifted a fly ball to left field off Tigers starter Jeff Weaver (0-2). Mientkiewicz had tied the game with an RBI double two batters earlier.

Weaver allowed four runs -- two earned -- and seven hits in 5 2/3 innings.

Twins starter Eric Milton (2-1) allowed three runs and nine hits in six innings. Bob Wells, Mike Jackson and LaTroy Hawkins each tossed a scoreless inning of relief to preserve the victory.
