Roman Cechmanek, rookie Jiri Dopita and their wives have reason to celebrate together this time.

Cechmanek made 34 saves and Dopita recorded a goal and an assist as the Philadelphia Flyers showed who's boss in the NHL Atlantic Division with a 3-2 victory over the New Jersey Devils.

Hours after signing a three-year contract extension, Cechmanek was superb, stopping nine shots in the first period, 12 in the second and 13 in the third.

Dopita opened the scoring 12:52 into the second with his seventh goal of the season and set up the decisive tally by Donald Brashear, who capped a wild three-minute stretch later in the period.

Dopita scored a career-high four goals in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Atlanta Thrashers.

But he couldn't celebrate much with Cechmanek, his Czech compatriot who sat out the game.

Cechmanek and Dopita are playing together in the NHL for the first time this season.

After drafting Cechmanek in 2000, the Flyers selected Dopita last year, pleasing their wives, who are best friends.

Keith Primeau also scored for the Flyers, who won for the ninth time in 11 games and built a four-point lead over the New York Rangers in the Atlantic.

The Devils, who have represented the Eastern Conference in each of the past two Stanley Cup Finals, fell nine points off the pace.
