Sullivan set up two goals, then scored the game-winner midway through the third period as the Blackhawks clipped the Montreal Canadiens, 3-2 before a crowd of 17,663 at the Molson Centre.
"I have to get back to the way I played last season," said Sullivan, who had 34 goals and 75 points.
"I'm getting more confidence with the puck. I haven't scored a lot of goals lately, so I'll take the one I got tonight."

Tony Amonte and Phil Housley also scored for the Blackhawks, while Jocelyn Thibault turned aside 21 shots.
"It's great to win a game here in Montreal," said Thibault, who began his NHL with the Canadiens.
"It's been a long time in between wins for us."
Craig Rivet and Yanic Perreault replied in a losing cause for the injury-riddled Canadiens, who were outshot 36-23.
"Sure, we have injuries but we didn't show any character tonight," Canadiens head coach Michelle Therrien said. "We have to be tougher.
"We can't play that way and expect to win."
It was Chicago's first win since Remembrance Day and halted a 0-5-4 skid in which they managed only 19 goals.
Montreal fell to 7-3-2-1 for its last 13 games.
"In the last 10 games, there were no records set against us," Blackhawks head coach Brian Sutter said. "We either lost each game by a goal or tied.
"Montreal played well. We knew they were a better team."
Jose Theodore was peppered with 13 shots in the first, but held the Blackhawks off the scoresheet.
That allowed Rivet to open the scoring with his second goal of the season at 2:16 of the second.
After Brian Savage was penalized for holding, Amonte notched his 10th to knot it 1-1 with 26 seconds left in the period.
Perreault's 13th put Montreal out front 2-1 just 59 seconds in the third, but Housley tied it 2-2 with his fifth at 5:09.
That set the stage for Sullivan, who skated out from behind the Canadiens net and backhanded his seventh by Theodore with 10:39 remaining.
Sullivan has two goals and four assists in his last five games.
"I was disappointed in Sullivan at the start of the season, but now he is coming around," Sutter said.
