The Colorado Avalanche will retire Ray Bourque's No. 77 in a pre-game ceremony Nov. 24 before taking on the Edmonton Oilers, the team announced Tuesday.

Bourque was traded to Colorado during his 21st season with Boston and was part of the Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup this past season.

Bourque's number will be the first retired in the Avalanche's six-year history, but the fifth overall by the franchise.

Before moving to Colorado, the Quebec Nordiques retired the numbers of Peter Stastny, Marc Tardif, J.C. Tremblay and Michel Goulet.

Bourque, 40, announced his retirement last June after 22 seasons in the NHL.
