Bourque was traded to Colorado during his 21st season with Boston and was part of the Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup last season.
He announced his retirement last June 26.
A banner with Bourque's number will be raised to the FleetCenter rafters, joining those of Eddie Shore (2), Lionel Hitchman (3), Bobby Orr (4), Aubrey "Dit" Clapper (5), Phil Esposito (7), John Bucyk (9) and Milt Schmidt (15).

"It is going to be a privilege and an honour to be in the company of those great Bruins," said Bourque, who turns 41 on Dec. 28.
Orr, Esposito, Bucyk and Schmidt are expected to attend the ceremony.
Bourque won five Norris trophies as the league's best defenceman and ended his career as the highest scoring defenceman in NHL history, with 410 goals and 1,169 assists for 1,579 points.
But he hadn't won a Stanley Cup with the Bruins and wanted to be traded to a contender.
The team complied with his request, sending him to Colorado on March 6, 2000 and ending the longest tenure at the time of a player with one team, in the NHL, NBA, NFL or major league baseball.
Bourque was the eighth player drafted in 1979 and scored a goal and an assist in his first game.
He won the Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie and a spot on the NHL's first-team all-star team that same season.
Bourque led Boston in scoring five times and finished his Bruins career with 395 goals and 1,111 assists for a club record 1,506 points.
