Nash dating Elizabeth Hurley: report

Last Updated: Wednesday, May 30, 2001 | 2:17 AM ET

Dallas Mavericks point guard Steve Nash is being linked romantically to another British celebrity.

Sports Illustrated reports in its June 4 edition that Nash of Victoria is dating actress and model Elizabeth Hurley, who is currently in Dallas shooting the movie Servicing Sara with Matthew Perry.

The relationship was confirmed for the magazine by Nash's California agent, Bill Duffy.

"They just vibed," Duffy told Sports Illustrated. "The relationship is authentic."

Nash could not be reached for comment on Tuesday.

Nash's mother Jean said from Victoria that Hurley and her son had been to a party together in Dallas, but downplayed the possibility of a relationship.

"They were at a party together and that's all I know," she said.

Nash is coming off his most successful season in the National Basketball Association, during which he averaged 15.6 points and 7.3 assists and led the Mavericks into the second round of the playoffs.

Duffy told Sports Illustrated that people continue to underestimate his client both on the court and in terms of his appeal to women.

Nash was romantically linked with British pop star Geri Halliwell, a former member of the Spice Girls, in media reports this past winter, although he stressed from the beginning that the two were just friends.
