Whitecaps striker Camilo named player of the week

Vancouver Whitecaps forward Camilo Sanvezzo was named Major League Soccer player of the week on Monday.

Vancouver Whitecaps forward Camilo Sanvezzo was named Major League Soccer player of the week on Monday.

He scored two second-half goals in a 2-2 tie with the Portland Timbers on Sunday to keep the Whitecaps in playoff contention.

Camilo's first goal came on a free kick from nearly 30 yards out. His second goal was a spectacular scissor-kick volley from the top of the box.

Camilo leads all MLS players with three player of the week awards this season.
