Toronto FC signed Argentine midfielder Matias Laba as a Young Designated Player on Friday.
He joins the Major League Soccer club after spending the past three seasons with Argentinos Juniors of the Argentine Primera Division.
"Matias Laba is one of the top young talents in Argentina and we are delighted to have him join Toronto FC," Toronto FC general manager Kevin Payne said in a release. "He is a modern central midfielder and we expect him to be a mainstay of our team for years to come."
Laba, 21, also represented Argentina at the 2011 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Colombia.
"We are really excited to have Matias join us," said Toronto FC head coach Ryan Nelsen. "He is an exciting and energetic young player that's captained his side and shown real leadership qualities. He has a great intensity to his play that is infectious to watch and will be a great addition to the club."
