Toronto FC announced the addition of Chris Cummins to the team's coaching staff on Friday.

Cummins has been named first assistant coach to head coach John Carver. Cummins will also oversee Toronto's reserve team, with newly signed Nick Dasovic acting as his assistant.

Cummins joins the Major League Soccer club from Luton Town of the English League One (England's third division) where he once worked under Carver.

"I am very pleased to welcome Chris on board," said Carver.

"Obviously I've worked with him before, so I know how he operates. We brought him in and saw how he worked out with the lads and he gets along real well, which is important. Chris has worked a lot with the young players, and he'll do the same here while still helping me out with the first team."

Cummins' first official match as Carver's assistant will be May 17 when Toronto hosts the Columbus Crew (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 3:30 pm ET).
