Matt Stinson scored the game's only goal to lift Toronto FC to a 1-0 pre-season victory over Red Star Belgrade on Sunday in Turkey.

Stinson, a former Toronto FC Academy player, scored in the 41st minute on a cross from trialist Javier Martina.

"It was a good game against strong opponents," said Aron Winter, Toronto's head coach and technical director. "I am satisfied because the players did everything that we asked of them and we are getting better with each game."

Toronto was coming off a 1-1 tie with another Serbian side, Partizan Belgrade, on Thursday.

"We want to play good football and keep the ball," Winter said. "We have to keep working on some things but we are only a week into training camp. We have another five weeks until our first game and I am sure we will be ready."

Winter recently added two trialists to his training camp roster, Dutch midfielder Elbekay Bouchiba, who started Sunday, and English defender Chris Hunter.

Other trialists in the starting 11 were goalkeeper David Monsalve and forward Nick Soolsma. Draft pick Demetrius Omphroy, and Academy players Stinson, Ashtone Morgan and Oscar Cordon also started.

Toronto captain Dwayne De Rosario didn't play as he left camp Sunday to join Canada's national team ahead of its friendly versus Greece on Wednesday. Toronto defender Adrian Cann will join the Canadian team on Monday.

Toronto, which is training at the Calista Luxury Resort in Antalya, plays Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday. The team returns briefly to Toronto before resuming training camp in Orlando and Charleston, S.C.
