The French women overcame a determined North Korean side to capture the Under-17 World Cup on Saturday in Azerbaijan.
France became the first European team to win the event after beating the North Korea 7-6 in penalty kicks.
Lea Declercq gave France a 1-0 lead in the first half, while Ri Un Sim responded for North Korea to force penalties.
However, Ri Un couldn’t save her nation in the end. With France holding a 7-6 edge, the North Korean shooter missed her penalty kick and was then forced to watch her French foes break out in celebration.
