Canadian coach Bryan Rosenfeld will field virtually the same squad that was victorious in the CONCACAF championship at next month's FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup.

Canada's 21-player roster, announced Friday, features 16 returning players from the CONCACAF soccer tournament. The two notable absences are Katherine Caverly and Sabrina Hemond who are out with injuries.

"We are very confident with the new players who will replace their roles," Rosenfeld said.

Canada is in Group D with Ghana, Ireland and Brazil in the 16-country World Cup. The tournament will be played Sept. 5-25 in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Canadians have six wins, three ties, and two losses in international matches this year, and qualified for the World Cup by winning the 2010 CONCACAF U-17 tournament in March, defeating Mexico 1-0 in the final.

The victory followed a dramatic semifinal win over the United States, 5-3 on penalty kicks.

Canada's roster includes two players -- midfielder Diamond Simpson and goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo -- from the team that lost to Germany in the quarter-finals of the 2008 U-17 World Cup in New Zealand.

There are 14 players born in 1993, six in 1994 and one -- Ashley Lawrence -- born in 1995.

The young Canadians play Ghana on Sept. 6 and Ireland on Sept. 9, with both games in Arima, Trinidad. Canada will also play Brazil on Sept. 13 in Marabella, Trinidad.

The other teams in the tournament are host Trinidad and Tobago, Chile, Germany, Japan, North Korea, South Korea, Mexico, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Africa, Spain, and Venezuela.
