Real Madrid said football great Alfredo Di Stefano has been readmitted to hospital with a heart problem on Saturday.

The club said the 84-year-old Argentine was admitted to Madrid's La Moraleja Hospital on Friday, and that doctors want to monitor Di Stefano due to his history of heart problems.

Di Stefano, who is honorary president at Madrid, spent nine days in hospital this month after doctors discovered a respiratory infection during a checkup. He scored an estimated 890 goals in a 22-year career, and led Madrid to five straight European Cups in the 50s and helped transform the Spanish club into a global force.
