Toronto FC general manager Johnston has been looking for a head coach since parting ways with Chris Cummins last month. (Chris Young/Canadian Press)Toronto FC will introduce the team's new coach at a media conference Thursday morning.
The club parted ways with interim coach Chris Cummins last month after the team missed the Major League Soccer playoffs for the third time in three seasons of existence. Cummins took over the post after John Carver resigned in April.
General manager Mo Johnston has reportedly been in talks with Predrag (Preki) Radosavljevic about the vacant coaching job. The Serbia native left MLS club Chivas USA by mutual agreement last week after three seasons at the helm.
Johnston has said he's looking for someone with MLS experience, and Preki would fit that bill. A former coach of the year and the only man to win two league MVP awards as a player, Preki compiled a coaching record of 40-29-21 in the regular season and 0-3-3 in the playoffs with Chivas.
Preki, who became an American citizen in 1996, has also been rumoured to be a candidate for an assistant's job with the U.S. national team, as well as head positions with MLS clubs D.C. United and the New York Red Bulls.
