Canada adds Poland friendly to European schedule

Canada hasn't had a match since July 18, when it lost 1-0 to Honduras in the quarter-finals of the Gold Cup at Philadelphia. (Nicholas Kamm/Getty Images)The Canadian men's soccer team will face Poland in an exhibition match on Nov. 18 in Bydgoszcz, the Canadian Soccer Association announced on Wednesday.
Canada is already scheduled to meet Macedonia in another international friendly on Nov. 14 in Strumica.
The Poland match will be Canada's third of 2009 in Europe, having previously defeated Cyprus 1-0 in May.
Even without playing a game in the last month, Canada moved up 13 spots to No. 53 in the latest FIFA world rankings, published on Oct 16. It is Canada's highest ranking since October 2007, when it was No. 51.
Poland is ranked No. 56, Macedonia at No. 66.
Under interim head coach Stephen Hart, Canada has compiled a 4-1-1 record this year, including a strong run during the summer's CONCACAF Gold Cup when the team reached the quarter-finals.
November's match will be the fourth meeting between Poland and Canada
The Poles won the most recent encounter with Canada, in Toronto on July 15, 1988.
