Bjorn Kopplin scored his second goal of the game deep into extra time to send Germany to the quarter-finals, beating Nigeria 3-2 in a thrilling match.

Nigeria took a 2-1 lead shortly after Germany was sent to 10 men when Tobias Kempe was shown the red card and sent off the field.

Mario Vrancic scored the equalizer in the 75th minute, setting up an exciting finish.

Danny Uchechi and Rabiu Ibrahim scored for Nigeria.

In earlier action, Brazil beat South American rivals Uruguay 3-1 on Wednesday.

Alex Teixeira scored twice and Alan Kardec added the other for Brazil, which found itself up 3-0 with only 31 minutes played in Port Said, Egypt.

Uruguay found a glimmer of hope when Jonathan Urretaviscaya scored in the 36th minute, but Brazil's dominant attack gave Uruguay's weak defence all kinds of headaches and could have scored more than three goals in the first half.

Uruguay striker Abel Hernandez missed a penalty in the 87th minute, sealing the team's fate.

In Suez, Ahmed Khalil's 83-minute goal helped see the United Arab Emirates to the quarter-finals after they beat Venezuela 2-1.

UAE saw themselves down early with Jose Rondon's fourth goal of the tournament in the 12th minute but struck back within 10 minutes after Mohamed Ahmed headed home the tying goal.

Venezuela were urgent in their attack following Khalil's goal but were unable to muster a goal, sparking wild celebrations from the coach, players and fans.

With Germany's win, all quarter-finals have been set.

On Friday, the matches are: South Korea vs. Ghana; Italy vs. Hungary

On Saturday: Germany vs. Brazil; United Arab Emirates vs. Costa Rica
