Following a 6-0 loss to Dallas on Saturday, the MLS squad announced on Monday that they have fired head coach Curt Onalfo and his assistant Kris Kelderman.
The Wizards organization will name an interim head coach on Tuesday after players are briefed.
"Our shareholder group is thankful for Curt Onalfo's service over the last two-and-a-half seasons, but we felt a change needed to be made," Wizards president Robb Heineman said in a staement on the team's website. "We are committed to developing high performance and consistency around our club."
Onalfo ends his stint with the Wizards after compiling a 27-29-22 record in MLS play since taking over for the 2007 season.
The Wizards are near the bottom of the eastern conference, winning only five of 18 games this season.
