Fabrice Noel scored in the 14th minute and James Marcelin added a goal in the 78th, giving Haiti a 2-0 victory over Grenada in CONCACAF Gold Cup group play.

The win was Haiti's first in the Gold Cup since 2002.

Haiti is 1-1 in Group C going into Saturday's game against the United States in Foxborough, Mass.

Grenada is the group's lone winless team going into Saturday's game against Honduras, also in Foxborough.

Noel's goal came off a free kick by Brunel Fucien into a crowd in the middle of the penalty area.

Noel deflected it into the net.

Marcelin took a pass from Raymond Ednerson, beat a defender at the top left-hand corner of the penalty area and converted against goalkeeper Desmond Noel.

U.S. 2, Honduras 0

Santino Quaranta broke a scoreless tie in the 75th minute and Brian Ching followed with a header in the 79th, giving the United States a 2-0 win against Honduras in the Gold Cup on Wednesday night.

The U.S., the two-time defending champion in the competition contested among the countries of North and Central America and the Caribbean, is 23-0-1 in Gold Cup group play.

The Americans are 2-0 and lead Group B going into their final first-round match against Haiti on Saturday in Foxborough, Mass. Honduras, 1-1, will face winless Grenada, also in Foxborough.

Quaranta took a short pass from Charlie Davies, who replaced Freddy Adu in the 64th minute, at the top of the penalty box and fired in his first goal for the national team.

Four minutes later, Ching put in his header from the goal box to seal the victory.

Adu no longer available

Afterward, the U.S. confirmed that Freddy Adu will not play the remaining games of the Gold Cup.

Adu scored a goal in the Americans' opening 4-0 win against Grenada on Saturday at Seattle.

He had one shot on goal Wednesday, and was replaced in the 64th minute by Charlie Davies.

"This will be the last game Freddy will be here for the Gold Cup," American coach Bob Bradley said. "That was part of the arrangement from the start."

Adu will participate in the pre-season with Portuguese club Benfica, which he joined in 2007.

Last season, Benfica loaned him to Monaco of France's Ligue 1, where he played just 169 minutes over 10 matches.

"It's important to get pre-season in with your team," Adu said. "It gives you the best chance of being part of the team for the season."

Bradley said there will be no specific replacement for Adu on the U.S. roster.

Because the Americans reached the final of the Confederations Cup on June 28 and were playing in back-to-back tournaments, CONCACAF allowed the United States to expand its roster from 23 to 30.
