European champion Spain remained atop the latest FIFA rankings published Wednesday by soccer's world governing body while Canada remained at No. 89.

Spain held on to the No. 1 spot for an 11th consecutive month, ahead of Germany, the Netherlands, Brazil and Italy. Argentina, England, Croatia, Russia, France and Portugal round out the top 10.

There were no changes in the top 39 places compared to last month, due to the fact that since the last world ranking came out, only 22 international matches have been played worldwide.

At No. 89, Canada is sandwiched between Congo and Zambia.

At No. 15, the United States is the top team from CONCACAF, the soccer confederation that covers North and Central America and the Caribbean.

Canada ranks eighth among CONCACAF nations behind the U.S., Mexico (No. 25), Honduras (No. 39), Costa Rica (No. 41), Panama (No. 60), Jamaica (No. 70), and Trinidad and Tobago (No. 74).

Six countries, including Papua New Guinea and San Marino, were tied for last at No. 202.

The next FIFA ranking will be published on June 3.
