Germany's Miroslav Klose hopes to collect on a bet with Italy's Luca Toni at the end of Euro 2008.
The two forwards, who are teammates at German club Bayern Munich, made a friendly wager over who would score more goals for their country prior to the kickoff of the European Championship.
Klose bagged his first goal in Germany's 3-2 win over Portugal on Thursday. Toni, held scoreless through three games, will get a chance to notch his first of the tournament Sunday when Italy faces Spain in the quarter-finals.
"I scored my goal so now it's up to Luca to equalize," Klose told reporters on Saturday. "I texted him and he messaged back saying he's having a few problems with his best friend, the ball. He said at the moment it's doing what it wants, not what he wants."
Between them, Toni and Klose scored 34 goals for Bayern last season.
"The coaches said to me before the Portugal game the Euros had really only just begun and there was a long way to go," said Klose. "Things went a lot better for me in that game."
