Argentina held on to the top spot in world soccer for a ninth straight month, while Canada moved up two places, in the FIFA world rankings released Wednesday by soccer's international governing body.
Argentina, which has topped the list since October 2007, stayed ahead of South American rival Brazil, with world champion Italy, Spain and Germany rounding out the top five.
The Czech Republic, France, Greece, England and the Netherlands filled out places six through 10. Portugal, No. 9 last month, dropped two places — their spot in the top 10 was taken by England.
Canada is tied with Panama at No. 60. Ecuador is No. 59 and Lithuania is No. 62.
Mexico is the top team from CONCACAF, the soccer confederation that covers North and Central America and the Caribbean, at No. 14.
Canada ranks fourth among CONCACAF nations behind Mexico, the United States (No. 21) and Honduras (No. 37).
Nine countries, including Aruba and Montserrat, are tied for last at No. 199.
The next FIFA ranking will be published July 2.
