Coach Jakob Kuhn maintained he is committed and focused on guiding Switzerland at Euro 2008, even after his wife was hospitalized Monday night.

Kuhn's wife, Alice, was taken to hospital just as Kuhn and the Swiss national team arrived at their hotel in Feusisberg.

"I was relieved to learn that her condition is under control now, that she is not in a life-threatening condition and that she has been given a very good prognosis," Kuhn told reporters Tuesday.

Switzerland, co-host of the three-week tournament with Austria, plays the Czech Republic on Saturday in Berne in its opening game of the competition.

Kuhn insisted his wife's condition will not distract him from his work.

"I am here with all of my head, stomach and heart," he said. "I will be able to do my work and will not need any cover. It is in no way the case that I will not be 100 per cent available for my work with the team."

Kuhn has been in charge of the Swiss team for seven years, guiding it to qualification for Euro 2004 and the 2006 World Cup. He has already announced he will step down as Swiss coach at the conclusion of Euro 2008.
