What will Amado Guevara do for an encore?

The Honduran midfielder has settled in nicely ever since signing with Toronto FC last month, his best performance coming in the Canadian club's 2-0 victory over the Kansas City Wizards on Saturday.

Guevara scored both goals, including a beautiful curling free kick from 20 yards out, to help Toronto win a franchise-record third in a row and go above the .500 mark for the first time since joining Major League Soccer in 2007.

Guevara and Toronto will try to make it four wins in a row when they host the New York Red Bulls Thursday night at BMO Field.

Guevara's goals were his first since being acquired by the team on April 9, and the Honduran sparkplug, voted league MVP in 2004 when he played with New York, will be looking to add to his goal tally against his old team.

New York "was a team where I already played in this league and I have great respect for the team and my former teammates," Guevara said during a conference call earlier this week. "It's a weird feeling because it's the first time I ever faced a team that I truly respect and enjoyed being part of."

With his ability to score highlight-reel goals and orchestrate the attack with mazy runs and sublime playmaking, Guevara, nicknamed as El Lobo (The Wolf), has drawn rave reviews since joining Toronto.

"Since he's been here, he's been all smiles every single day," Toronto coach John Carver said. "I'm still waiting to see this animal in him. I haven't seen it yet. I haven't seen it, honestly."

While the Honduran has made a big impression for the team, the team and the city of Toronto have made a big impression on him.

"As for the city, I'm very, very happy," Guevara said.

"I've received great treatment by the staff, my teammates and my coaches. They welcomed me in, and the fans, who really support this team and really give the team a home advantage. I really feel like I've been here longer than I have."

Toronto will have to keep close tabs on New York forward Jozy Altidore, as the talented teenager has goals in his last two games.

New York could also receive a boost if Juan Pablo Angel returns to the lineup. Angel was the league's second-leading scorer in 2007, but the Colombian has been hit by hamstring problems that have seen him play a mere 136 minutes this season.

Angel is listed as questionable for Thursday's contest.

Toronto's next game will be at home against the Columbus Crew on May 17 (CBC, CBCSports.ca, 3:30 p.m. ET).
