Brazil held on to the top spot in the monthly FIFA world soccer rankings released Wednesday.
The South Americans topped the list, followed by Argentina, World Cup champion Italy, France and Germany.

Croatia, Netherlands, Spain, Czech Republic and Portugal rounded out the top 10.
Canada dropped a spot to No. 53 and is sandwiched between Costa Rica and Peru.
Mexico is the top team from CONCACAF — the soccer confederation that covers North and Central America and the Caribbean — in this month's ranking, at the No. 11 position.
Canada ranks fourth among CONCACAF nations behind Mexico, the United States (No. 17), and Costa Rica (No. 52).
Iraq made the biggest jump, rising 16 places to No. 64 after winning the Asian Cup for the first time last month.
Ten teams, including Guam, Belize and the U.S. Virgin Islands, were tied for last at No. 199.
The next FIFA rankings will be published Sept. 19.
