Peru (1-1-1) earned a spot in the quarter-finals.

Bolivia twice enjoyed leads they could not hold against Peru.

Jaime Moreno, the DC United forward who is tied for the all-time Major League Soccer goal mark, put the Bolivians on top in the 24th minute with his second goal of the tournament.

Moreno lobbed a ball from outside the box over Peruvian keeper Leaon Butrón.

Pizarro, who was recently signed by Chelsea of the British Premier League, tied the game just 11 minutes later.

Jhasmany Campos regained the lead for Bolivia in the final minute of the first half, heading a cross that beat Butrón.

Bolivia appeared in the mix to advance from Group A until Pizarro's late heroics.

The tying goal came with Peru down a man. Jhoel Herrera was sent off in the 78th minute.

Peru incurred six cards in the match, while Bolivia was cited three times.

Venezuela (1-0-2) and Uruguay (1-1-1) each advanced with a scoreless draw in the late game on Tuesday.

Venezuela held a 7-1 shot advantage, with strikes by Juan Fernando Arango and José Torrealba in each half sailing just over the bar.
