No deal between Thierry Henry, FC Barcelona: agent

Last Updated: Monday, June 11, 2007 | 11:54 PM ET

Arsenal captain Thierry Henry reportedly reached agreement Monday with FC Barcelona, but one of his agents claimed otherwise.

According to France Football, Henry worked out a three-year contract with the Spanish powerhouse worth 5.5 million pounds per season.

But Jeff Weston of the ESM Group, which represents Henry, told BBC Radio that simply wasn't true.

"No such meeting took place," Weston said. "That is absolute rubbish."

Weston hinted that agent Jerome Anderson, who negotiates on Henry's behalf, is considering legal action against the magazine.

"There has never been any question of him not being at Arsenal next season," Weston said. "It is all just media speculation — as it was last year and the year before."

Henry, 29, scored 10 goals in 17 Premier League matches for the Gunners before groin and stomach injuries ended his season on March 9.

The flamboyant French striker scored 27 goals in 32 matches for Arsenal the previous season.

Henry, who ranks third overall with 174 Premier League goals, won consecutive English Football Association player of the year awards in 2003-04 and added a record third in 2006.

Sir Stanley Matthews, Kenny Dalglish, John Barnes and Gary Lineker each won it twice.
