English midfielder David Beckham trained with his Real Madrid teammates Tuesday for the first time since injuring his right knee a month ago.

The former England national team captain is expected to participate in a full training session later this week before Real Madrid determines whether he can play in Sunday's Spanish league clash with Osasuna at Madrid's Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

Beckham, 31, suffered the injury against Getafe on March 4.

The Englishman was taken off the field in the 69th minute after running into the advertising signs behind the goal. He has missed three league matches since the Getafe contest.

Madrid sits third in the Spanish league with 51 points, five behind leaders FC Barcelona, with 10 games left in the season.

If Madrid goes on to win the league championship, it would be the first silverware for the club since Beckham joined the team from Manchester United in 2003.

Beckham will finish out the season with Madrid before he joins Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy in August.

In January, Beckham rejected a two-year contract extension with Madrid and instead inked a five-year deal with the Galaxy. Beckham's contract with the Spanish club expires in June.

He is slated to make his league debut against Toronto FC in August.
