The Montreal Impact have loaned defender Zarek Valentin to Norwegian second division club Bodo Glimt for one year.
The deal is to be completed when Valentin passes a physical exam and signs with Bodo.
The 21-year-old said Tuesday on Twitter that he was in Norway.
"Super excited about the opportunity to play games and follow the dream in Europe," Valentin wrote. "All the best to the Montreal Impact for the rest of the season."
Questions about Valentin's future arose on Saturday when he was not dressed for the Impact's 1-0 victory over the New York Red Bulls. Instead, former Impact academy player Karl Ouimette made his first MLS start at right back.
Valentin was a member of the U.S. under-23 team for Olympic qualifying last year.
He was selected fourth overall by Chivas USA in the 2011 MLS SuperDraft and played 25 matches. He was taken by Montreal in the expansion draft for the 2012 season and had one goal in 1,161 minutes over 15 appearances.
He played in only one game this season for Montreal.
The Impact said on its website the move would allow Valentin to acquire international experience.
