The Montreal Impact gave striker Roberto Brown a one-year contract extension on Monday.

They also announced that striker Peter Byers will not return for the 2009 United Soccer Leagues season.

Byers has agreed to terms with the San Jose Earthquakes of Major League Soccer.

Brown, a native of Panama who joined the Impact two years ago, is one of four foreign players under contract.

The others are Stefano Pesoli of Italy, Cedric Vaqueviel of France and Leonardo di Lorenzo of Argentina.
