Stuttgart midfielder Sami Khedira has damaged ligaments in his left knee and will be out for at least three or four weeks, possibly putting his World Cup hopes in jeopardy.

Stuttgart's doctor, Raymond Best, said Khedira will not have surgery and that he could be back in about a month. Khedira twisted his knee in a tackle by Bayern Munich forward Miroslav Klose, Khedira's Germany teammate. Stuttgart won Saturday's game 2-1.

Another Germany midfielder, Hamburg's Marcell Jansen, also could miss the World Cup after an ankle injury.
