Serbia v Ghana - Lucky number 13?

Well folks, the world's greatest sports spectacle is almost upon us, and the Serbia v Ghana match is set to kick off the drama in group D this Sunday, June the 13th, at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time. The other two teams in group D, Germany and Australia, are facing off against each other later on in the day, but with Germany being the clear favorite in that matchup all eyes will most certainly be on the duel between Serbia and Ghana. Don't miss it; it's gonna be a nail-biter!

As far as Serbia and Ghana are concerned, June the 13th could prove to be a very lucky day for the winning team and a very unlucky one for the team that gets left behind; like it or not, this first match will almost certainly set the tone for the rest of the championship. What's more, along with Germany, Serbia and Ghana are the main contenders for the top two spots in group D, and a win for either team brings with it the kind of momentum that could prove crucial for advancing to the next stage of competition. Both teams are well aware of this fact, so this Sunday expect to see both Serbia and Ghana at their finest.

Much has been made of Ghana midfielder Michael Essien's injury and the impact that his absence is going to have on the Black Stars, but the Ghanaian team is still booming with talent and the head coach, fellow Serb Milovan Rajevac, is among the best in the business. Needless to say, Ghana will be a formidable opponent for Serbia and I'd be lying if I said I'm not just a little bit "on edge" heading into this match. I don't know if there is such a thing as an easy match at the World Cup, but I do know that this won't be one of them. Will the White Eagles soar higher than the Black Stars? I believe so, but we'll have to give it our all for the full 90 minutes of game time. No retreat, no surrender! Let's go SERBIA!
