A Spaniard in Iqaluit (part two)

By: Luis Roman Alcaide, Iqaluit

Thumbnail image for Thumbnail image for Spain Luis Roman Alcaise side shot.jpgDuring the weekend, I didn't have any problem to find a place to watch the games.

Bars open on the weekends, and people don't work, so I could be at some people houses.

Did you see England-USA? England should BUY a goalkeeper...in Spain we could sell them one of ours for a reasonable price...

So, I'm advised to go to Arctic Ventures, which is a small supermarket in Iqaluit.

They have a TV in one of the corridors (pretty small TV, held in the ceiling), and you have to stand to watch it. People pass arround you, trying to buy, and you are just there, annoying everyone. It's not the way anyone wants to see the World Cup.

But after a while, I realized that there is a shop in the same building, with technological stuff. Do they have TV's? YES!!!!!!!! I mean, it's not that they have TV's. They have THE TV. The shop is named

The Source, and the manager Jeff Bens, a cool guy, allowed me to watch the games in the 60 inch HD plasma TV! I thought I was playing!!!!

Since it was next to the supermarket, I brought myself some pop, chips and "spanish" olives......What else could you expect??¿?

....Well, some friends will be nice...and some beer too (there is no LCBO or Beer Store in Iqaluit, so, forget about beer here), but still...thanks to The Source for letting me be there.

There are rumours that I could get a TV in the next days.....I'll let you know my situation.
