An entire continent is still reeling after the loss of the last African
nation in the tournament. The black star may have faded too soon for
Ghanaian fans, but it was a beautiful thing to watch all African fans
unite under their flag.

The World Cup experience here in Canada isn't like anywhere else.
I always say one of the amazing things about this country is that no matter where you are, from St. John's to Victoria, flags from all 32 nations can be seen waving proudly.

The writing is on the wall

Two weeks into the games and already it's easy to call it a World Cup of
upsets. And, I say upsets in the fullest sense of the word. Spain and
Germany have looked defeat in the eye. A giant like England drew with
teams considered minnows in the sea of football, the reigning champions,
Italy fell to Slovakia and the French are toast.

There is nothing like a high spirited debate about officiating. There
have been some questionable calls in this World Cup and many of you have
been letting us know how the game is a few steps behind and how it
could be improved by letting the officials use some of the modern
tools available in other sports.
