Last man standing

It's the Spain -Germany semi-final.
With standing room only, the Alpen Club feels like the east coast heat wave. It is so hot. I'm wishing I had my water gun and the German bikini I see a woman named Barb wearing. The room is at overflow capacity with half of the German fans wearing the traditional black, yellow and red clothing and the other half wearing the white German jersey.
This is German territory.
Along with the German flags and the face paint the schnitzel, beer and Bavarian smokes, are all tell-tale signs that this is where German fans live. Did I mention the reoccurring Deutschland chant as well?
Against my better judgement, I scan the room searching for any sign of Spain fans.
Then I shake my head and think, in a room full of German fans who would dare cheer the opposing team.
Not long after that, CBC Vancouver's sportscaster Shane Foxman turns to me and points, "Did you see the one Spain fan?"
In disbelief, I looked and sure enough, in the dead center of all the German fans is Lee Denevers wearing his Spain jersey. Apparently Shane's spidy senses are sharper than mine today.
Now I had to find out if how ended up here. My money is on a dare.
"My German friend told me that there were lots of England guys here with jerseys on for the England-Germany game. So I thought, I'd be safe," says Lee Denevers, the only Spain fan amongst 400+ Germans. We then look around for his friend Marcus who has since vanished.
I'm still a little surprised.
Then Lee says what I am pondering, "I think they (German fans) think I'm like the crazy guy on the bus. Too crazy to actually be here and they've left me alone."
After the dare, crazy was my second guess.
And the end of the game, everyone was gone and Lee was happily, the last man standing.
Lee had a good time and his friend Marcus somehow showed up after the Germans cleared out.
I wonder where Lee will go to watch Spain play next. Maybe Holland?
