Toronto FC midfielder Dwayne De Rosario will not play in the 2009 Major League Soccer all-star game.

De Rosario, from Scarborough, Ont., was named on the MLS roster that will take on English team Everton at the all-star game at Rio Tinto Stadium, home of Real Salt Lake, on July 29.

On Tuesday, however, De Rosario ruled himself out from playing in the game because Toronto FC is slated to host the Puerto Rico Islanders in a CONCACAF Champions League qualifying contest on the same night.

Chicago Fire midfielder Cuauhtemoc Blanco will take De Rosario's place on the all-star team.

De Rosario, 31, has scored two game-winning goals in previous all-star games, including a long-range effort in a 1-0 victory over Chelsea in 2006.

The MLS team has a 5-0 record in previous all-star games against international opponents, including a 3-2 victory over England's West Ham United in last year's contest at Toronto.
