Former Canadian National Team member and coach Bob
Lenarduzzi will rely on his experience as player,
coach and manager as the network's World Cup 2002 analyst.
"Adding Lenarduzzi to our crew is a bonus for
soccer fans in this country," says Mike Brannagan,
Executive Producer of CBC Sports. "With his vast
experience, nationally and internationally, he will
be able to relate the game to the most ardent fan as
well as the neophyte."
Lenarduzzi played 67 games with FC Reading in the English
fourth division from 1971-'76. He was a Canadian national
team member from 1973 - '86. He played 288 games with
the Vancouver Whitecaps of the NASL, from 1974 - '84;
48 games with the Tacoma Stars of the Major Indoor Soccer
League from 1984 - '86, and 47 games with the Vancouver
86ers of the Canadian Soccer League in 1987 - '88. He
also coached and managed the 86ers from 1987 - '92.
Lenarduzzi was appointed Canada's World Cup and Olympic
coach in February 1990, becoming the first Canadian-born
coach to guide the team in international competition.
He was also the National Team coach from 1992 - '97,
and from December 1997 until this year he was the general
manager of the Vancouver 86ers of the American League.
