Canada rallies to finish 3rd at CONCACAF U-17 Championship
Canucks come from behind twice in dying minutes to beat Honduras
Canada came from behind twice in the dying minutes to defeat Honduras 4-2 on penalty kicks in the third-place playoff match Friday at the CONCACAF Under-17 Championship in Panama City.
Striker Jordan Hamilton tied the game 1-1 in the 93rd minute, and Canada pushed bodies forward in a desperate search for another late goal, with substitute Jordan Haynes scoring the equalizer in the 118th minute.
Jorge Bodden finished off a move down the left side in the 16th minute to put Honduras up 1-0.
Hamilton tied the game for Canada in the third minute of injury time when he headed home the cross from Elias Roubos.
Any momentum Canada had gained from the late goal was wiped out when Steven Ramos put Honduras back in front with a strike in the second-half of extra time.
Canada then threw caution to the wind in a mad search for a late goal. After a series of four close-range misses, Haynes finally thumped home a left-footed strike to send the game to penalties.
